Connexions is a statutory service working with schools, colleges and other organisations to provide information, advice and support to all young people between the ages of 13 and 19, and to 25 for young people with learning difficulties and disabilities.
The Connexions service in this area is provided by Better Choices Limited, under contract to the local authority.
Our Personal Advisers come from a variety of professional guidance and support backgrounds. They are trained to give direct help to the full range of young people, and all young people have the right to access a Personal Adviser. This may be for careers guidance and advice or for other support they need in helping them identify barriers to learning or to obtain access to more specialist support.
Our Personal Advisers work in schools, colleges, Connexions Centres and other agencies’ premises, community centres and through outreach.
Connexions tries to ensure that specialist agencies work more effectively to support young people. A priority of the service is to reduce the number of 16 - 18 year olds who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).
