What courses can I take at university?

You can take a degree (BA, BEd or BSc for example), a Higher National Diploma (HND), Diploma in Higher Education (DipHE) or a foundation degree or, if needed, a foundation year prior to one of the above. You can continue with an area you have already been studying or you can take up a new subject (or subjects). HE courses can be studied at some FE colleges and some HE courses can also be studied on a day-release basis, on a part time basis or on a distance-learning basis.

I am worried about financing my studies in HE. What help is available?

There is financial help available for higher education, but it's available on the basis that you'll be expected to re-pay money at a later date.

Information on funding is available at Directgov This also explains how to apply.

A new system of fees and repayments will be in place for students who start their higher education course in 2012.  There is more information in this Student Finance FAQs from BIS.
